You are able to drive yourself home afterward and return to light daily activities immediately. You should avoid strenuous activity — prolonged walking, running, or impact exercise — for 48 hours following the injection to allow the HA to distribute evenly within the joint. Most patients return for a follow-up visit within two to four weeks to assess the initial response and determine whether additional injections are indicated. The full benefit of viscosupplementation typically develops over two to six weeks as the joint environment improves.
